Michael Rosen – A Master, A Mentor, A Teacher, A Friend Yesterday, October 7, 2014, the world shined a little less bright as Michael Rosen left this world. He was a photographer that made a living in portraiture work for many decades then when the digital revolution hit the photography scene, his editing in post created an image style uniquely his own.  You can spot a Michael Rosen piece a mile away.  He was a lover of technology, food, travel, laughter, photography and the memories made with those around him.  He lived a large life with grand stories but was always   Read More …

Photo Shoot Flower Background Photo Shoot Flower Background. I had a client doing a hair editorial for Valentines day and I wanted to create a romantic Photo Shoot Flower Background (on a budget) aka a large paper flower backdrop. I went to the usually places looking for materials: Michael’s Craft Store, Joann Fabric Store, and Hobby Lobby.  But, they didn’t have anything affordable.  Then I headed to my go-to clutch store: Home Depot.  They always have the coolest things in large sizes.  Then, I came across it – Rosin paper. They had two colors: pink with a dark pink on the reverse   Read More …

Peacock Costume I created a Peacock Costume for Halloween one year. Not only was it beautiful, but it won me first place a $1,000 cash prize for the Halloween Costume Contest in Chicago.  The design isn’t very difficult if you know what you are doing. I would not suggest it as a do it yourself project for a beginner. Check out the photos for some images from the night! I just finished making it a few hours before hand, this is me at a professional shoot in the costume post Halloween. I do hair and makeup as well so I   Read More …

Flower Dresses Flower dresses have always been my favorite. They are colorful, full of life, and have an unmatched beauty all their own. Amie Hana, a Chicago based photographer, brought a lot of her Asian influences into the photoshoots we did we together including her love for flowers.  These wardrobe and fashion pieces are time sensitive so they would be created on the spot and she was great at providing a lot of material for me to work with. Below are a few of the pieces I created for her photography collection and her clients. The flowers give the photo a youthful,   Read More …

Fall Foliage and Leaf Dresses A long time friend contacted me asking to create a piece for her.  This three photo series is what came from her request. I gathered inspiration from the world around which at that time was classic October autumn leaves.  It was perfect out – the leaves JUST changed color a few days before the shoot was scheduled. I went and collected leaves from the larger leafed trees and went to work.  Because I was using real material, the outfit had to be made the night before and it turned into a race against time.  Upon   Read More …

Metal Dresses In an age of Lady Gaga, the concept of fashion seems to be breaking the mold and as long as you wear it well, you can wear anything! My metal fashion concepts were started around 2005 and have evolved over the years. I’m in luck, Gaga has made the unconventional trendy so here’s to the hope that the metal dress trend will catch on.   Below is a glimpse of a few metal dresses, metallic wardrobe, and futuristic fashion I have created over the years. Aside from being a Chicago based avant garde wardrobe designer and wardrobe stylist, I am quite often   Read More …

Enchanted Brides – Fairy Tale Shoot and Editorial This concept was to bring a modern twist to the old stories through fashion styling and hair design. The beautiful white bridal dresses were contemporary yet classic in design. By added various accessories and placing the models in mood setting backgrounds to tell the story, the concept came to life. First up: The Evil Witch from Snow White. With a high contrast background and foreground color this image is by far the strongest. The Avant garde hair design mimics a beehive but with added braids, it is the perfect modern twist on   Read More …
