Valentines Day Editorial
This Valentines day editorial was published in 2 magazines this February: Peluquerias (international) and Launch Pad (US).
The team was composed of:
- Photography: Jean Sweet http://www.curv.com/
- Hair: Ronnette Franklin, Mel Melissa Terhune, Melissa Milward Ingersoll
- Fashion Styling & Set: Jennifer Lynn / Unconventional Artist
- Makeup: Jeanette Frost
This was done in conjunction with Jean Sweet’s avant garde workshop. Each hair stylist was assigned a model and each had 1 look to complete the four look Valentine’s day editorial spreads we were submitting.
The background was very easy to make but it was time consuming, see our previous post here.
After completion, the background was brought to the Valentines day editorial set and reconfigured for each look. Here are the final images.
Above is the Peluquerias February 2013 spread, perfect timing for Valentines day. Below is the first look we shot. The organic looking white piece was placed over a tight nude dress. It was a great compliment to the gold letters hanging that spelled out LOVE. If you look at the models hair, it’s a sideways heart.
The hair stylist that took the creative hair direction for the photo below in the Valentines Day editorial also have the hair a heart shape, it’s more pronounced in this image. The Bound by love theme is shown through the pink and white rope wardrobe.
Hair pieces were shaped and added to the model in the image below. It, again, showed hearts to bring the theme to life and helped us pitch it to the magazines.
The outline of the models hair, below, is also in the shape of a heart. It’s subtle yet enhances the concept for the Valentines day editorial and since we focused on the hair stylists work as all images were sent to hair magazines, it was most certainly a selling point!
If you have any questions about these images, just let me know! This was finished in September and magazine submissions started in October. If you are looking to submit to a magazine for a holiday related editorial, 6 months advance notice is a must!
