Flower Dresses
Flower dresses have always been my favorite. They are colorful, full of life, and have an unmatched beauty all their own. Amie Hana, a Chicago based photographer, brought a lot of her Asian influences into the photoshoots we did we together including her love for flowers. These wardrobe and fashion pieces are time sensitive so they would be created on the spot and she was great at providing a lot of material for me to work with. Below are a few of the pieces I created for her photography collection and her clients.
The flowers give the photo a youthful, vibrant, vivacious feel to it. I am a fan of pink, as is Amie, so that tended to be the types of flowers we used. The green was a great balance to the pink and helped to frame the photo.
As simple as it may be, these are flower being placed on her head. I love the way the flowers frame the face and bring out the color in the makeup! With creative concepts like this it is very important to work with a team that properly knows how to light a set. Poor lighting equates to cheesy looking photos.
This flower headpiece, above, was made from fresh cut flowers. We were given them from a wedding florist after a bridal expo event.
The photo above and below are from a series we did for a calendar. Nokia was sponsoring the photo we created and it was featured on their sponsored calendar page. The energy in the photo created by the flowers is amazing.
But enough of the PINK. Here is a sunflower dress I made for photogrpaher Tony Tang from Ireland. He came to the states for a workshop I did with photographer Michael Rosen.
The model is former Miss Teen Iowa, April Doty!
